Putting all the parts together (A full CCIE Security Gear)
May 5th, 2008 by andy
Hello everyone, tomorrow I’ll be posting a video that has almost 1 hour in length and I’ll be showing how to put all the parts together, PIX, ASA, IDS, ACS, XP and Dynamips (A full Security gear with the exception of a VPN concentrator - sorry but this cannot be emulated).
So keep an eye on the Tutorial section for the new video, I hope you enjoy it. This will be the last video on emulation from now on I’ll be posting technical information and video on how to configure things.

Hi Anderson,
Greatly appreciate your efforts. I am a newbie at dynamips and pemu, but from your tutorials, I have emulated routers talking to emulated PIXs! One question, on your ‘putting all the parts together’ tutorial - what is the OS of the PC everything is running on? Are you on a Vista box, and use VMWare Workstation for XP and Server2003?
I have a Vista PC, and am wondering if I if I load VMWare along with XP and 2003, if I can have everything running on one PC.
Again, appreciate this!

Hi Sean,
Good to hear that my videos helped you with the emulations, the machine has a dual boot with Vista and XP on it, for XP I had to stick with 64 bits since 32 wouldn’t recognize my 8 gigas of ram.
I have a Windows 2000 Server for ACS and SCEP (CA) and a Windows XP for testing the client with a Cisco VPN Client.
You can easily do with a Vista PC with no problems at all, the only thing about Vista is memory consumption so that’s why I liked to try with XP as well, anyway with 8 gigas of ram I think I wouldn’t have a problem with Vista at all.
I’m about to release some downlodable .avi videos with info on how to Attack a Full 8 hours CCIE Security Lab. Check it out and will be on my webpage soon. Good luck!!!
These videos are great, many thanks.
Hey Andy,
hope khuwar is treating you well. i was looking at netmetric’s lab setup scenario and was wondering with modification, your lab should fit any need except for the vpn concentrator stuff right?
i wish you had a lab drawing layout, but perhaps i can do that for you.
cheers and appreciate all the hard work.
Hi Ian,
I already have a .pdf with a lab drawing layot for the dynamips equipments, I’ve just made a little modification to add BB1 and BB2 if you edit the .net file you will be able to see it.
I’ve create a Mock Lab I and I will do solution with breakdown sections and upload to my web today or tomorrow. Come back to download it for free.
Cheers
