Doubts and suggestions

Hi everybody,
For those that are having problems configuring something or stuck in some task regarding routing or in Security area or even want to know how to configure something let me know with comments what topics I should focus on, so I would try to release the new videos and some explanation as soon as I can…
Thanks and enjoy (THE COMMENTS BUG I HAD ON MY WEBPAGE HAS BEEN FIXED !!!)

Hey Ander,
I am having netmetric lab configs for CCIE security Labs which has 8 Routers. Can you please guide me how to achieve this 8 routers as the one which we have consist of 6 routers only. Your response will be highly appreciated. I could have edited the line in netmetric.net but did not want to screw up the network topology. Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I have updated the file for Security and uploaded the new one with BB1 and BB2, even though I will change the ASA for PIX in UDP tunnel mode, right now seems to be the more stable version since ASA simulation does not support dynamic routing.
Cheers
Hi Ander
thanks alot for the great help.
i have problem to simulate an config virtual PCs ,if you have time please try to release a video
i have some question, where should i post my question in your web site
Marwan
Hi Marwan,
What is your exact problem? Binding the dynamips with your PC nic?
Cheers
Hi Cheers,
thanks alot
with dynamips i can connect to vpc “vmware” with out prob,
but i can not connect pix to any virual pc “vmware”or others
i have installed win xp in vmware but i could not connect it to pemu
my first topology is
R1<-pix_-<pc
my second topology is
R1<-pix<-windows 2000 or 2003 server
that is why i am using vmware
i hope you can help
BestRegards
Hi,
You are supposed to connect pix with dynamips and not vmware, go through this video I’ve done and you should be able to learn how to get this thing working with dynamips and PIX, the best method so far for Windows version is using UDP tunnel between Dynamips and PIX version:
Here you can see the video:
http://www.andersonalves.net/videos/PIX_UDP/PIX.html
If you still can’t get his working, let me know,
Andy
hi
thank you very much, i have already learned udp from your video and was great, now i can connect pemu to dynamips,
My q is
i want to connect server 2003 wich is installed on vmware to pemu .
i could connect the dynamips to win xp installed on vmware and was success .
thanks alot for your great help
Marwan
Hi, you need to bind the vmware NIC to a MS_loopback in the Vmware configuration, then using the “Network Device List” of the dynamips you need to find out which NIC that binded MS_loopback is, then but that in a port of a Switch, let’s say SW1, then you start dynamips and put that port in dynamips in the same VLAN of the port of the PIX and you should be able to reach them without a problem.
The video “Putting all the parts together will actually show you on how to do that” http://www.andersonalves.net/videos/ALL_TOGETHER/ALL_TOGETHER.html
Or download the videos of this Mock Lab with Solutions and in the first video you should be able to see how to bind them together.

Hi
thanks again for the great support.
yes, now i got it ,that what i was looking for,you gave me the key and the video.
great job Cheers
i wish you the best
hi
i have implemented the pix using udp and tap as in the video
R2(outside)<—-pix—–<R1(inside)
i could ping from pix to both R1 and R2 but i could not ping from R1(inside) to R2(out side).
Since there is no place to post this prob(the complete config) here ,i posted in hacki
http://7200emu.hacki.at/viewtopic.php?t=6670
please help me to find out whay it is not pinging from inside to out side
BestRegards
thanks cheer
its done, there were routing prob.
i configured rip ver 2 on pix and both routers.
do i have always to run routing protocols on pix to connect tow different sites
Hi,
Not really, you can configure static routes if you don’t want to enable dynamic routing protocol.
The problem is that the pix need to act just like a router, if he is suppose to deliver a packet where he does not have a route back to that host, routing protocol will fail.
Hey Andy…
Thanks so much for the videos they are of lot of help for beginers like me…. I managed to simulate the ASA without any problem but when i try to restart the same it gives me an error sayin bin file not found.. and also can u give me location of the netmetric for security…
Thanks in advance.
hi anderson,
this topic is related to VOIP.
I had tried to configure AAR(alternate automated routing)many times in centralized call processsing model. Can you explain with step by step configuration of AAR by taking an example(also provide the topology diagram)
thanks in advance
